Blog Topic#10: Favicons
A favicon is a 16 x 16 icon that appears next to the URL of a site, usually containing the websites logo. It is also used as the icon for web shortcuts on computers as well as the tab on bookmarked sites. The format a favicon is in is known as Ico or Windows Icon format, available by a Photoshop plug in. the plugin then exports the design in Ico file format. It is only available by plug in and doesn't natively come in Photoshop but it can be used in any browser. You can add it to your code by adding <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"> to your code in the same place as your index but left loose. It is also possible to add them for mobile which is good since everyone has a phone now a days and it would pop up as an app or a bookmark on their smart phone.
